Preventing NCDs in Tanzania: A Community Approach

Non-communicable diseases (NCDs) such as hypertension, diabetes, and cardiovascular conditions are on the rise in Tanzania—yet many are preventable through early education, awareness, and lifestyle change. At Heal For All, we believe that prevention begins in the community.

According to WHO data, non-communicable diseases account for about one-third of all deaths in Tanzania, making NCDs a rising threat to public health. Around 25.9% of Tanzanian adults live with hypertension, and approximately 9.1% have diabetes. In Zanzibar, hypertension affects over 33% of adults—with only a small fraction having their blood pressure under control. Many individuals are unaware of their condition, delaying treatment until complications arise. Together, these figures highlight that prevention, early detection, and community-driven health education are absolutely essential.

Through our community outreach programs, digital campaigns, and educational webinars, we equip people with the knowledge and tools to take charge of their health. Our approach integrates local voices, cultural understanding, and youth engagement to promote healthier choices around nutrition, physical activity, stress management, and early screening.

By empowering individuals and families with accurate information and practical strategies, we’re building healthier, more informed communities—one conversation at a time.
